USA kept their hopes alive of a Super 8s place with a big win over Namibia, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai today
Match Analysis

Krishnamurthi keeps USA alive in the competition

Opting to bat, they piled up a massive total of 199 for four, and then restricted Namibia to 168 for six.

The USA had a great start to their innings with captain Monank Patel (52:30b, 3×4, 3×6) hitting a blistering half-century. At the other end, Shayan Jahangir (22:18b, 2×4, 1×6) also played a decent hand as the two had an opening partnership of 68 runs.

Then, Sanjay Krishnamurthi (68 not out:33b, 4×4, 6×6), who batted at four and made sure that he cashed in on the start that his team had.

His solid half-century along with contributions from Milind Kumar (28:20b, 1×4, 1×6) powered the USA to 199 for four.

The Chase

Louren Steenkamp (58:39b, 5×4, 3×6) started well for Namibia even though his opening partner Jan Frylinck fell early. The 54-run opening partnership set up the chase perfectly, but Steenkamp failed to find partners.

Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton (28:17b, 4×4) started well, but couldn’t carry on as the USA kept taking wickets at regular intervals.

JJ Smit (31:23b, 1×4, 1×6) fought hard but couldn’t take his team to a win as the target looked beyond reach in the end. USA restricted Namibia to 168 for six, winning the game by 31 runs.
