Following the first WTA 1000 event of the season in Doha, LWOT breaks down the major WTA moves in the ranking charts. The season’s second WTA 1000 has already begun in Dubai.
Biggest Movers in the WTA top 100 This Week – Week 6
Moving Up
Karolina Muchova: +8: world #19 -> world #11
Muchova won a long-awaited WTA 1000 title in Doha, and she made huge strides in the rankings as a result. The Czech dropped only one set (in the semifinals to Maria Sakkari), and defeated Victoria Mboko in a 6-4 7-5 finale. She’ll have even more points to pick up during the clay court season, as she missed much of that period in 2025.
Victoria Mboko: +3: world #13 -> world #10
While Muchova made the bigger ranking moves, Mboko made a historic debut into the Top 10. The Canadian, at just 19 years old, already has 12 wins to her name this year, and she hasn’t lost to a player outside the Top 50 since last September. She’ll have more points to pick up in Dubai this week.
Maria Sakkari: +19: world #52 -> world #33
After peaking in the Top 5 just a couple of years ago, Sakkari’s ranking is back near the Top 30 after a semifinal run in Doha. The Greek upset Iga Swiatek in the quarterfinals, and she similarly upset the Top 10 ranked Jasmine Paolini earlier in the tournament.
Moving Down
Emiliana Arango: -9: world #49 -> world #58
Arango opted to enter the WTA 1000 Doha this season, dropping ranking points as she was defending 125 points from a WTA event in Mexico. She lost in the first round to Wang Xinyu, only winning six games in the match.
Rebecca Sramkova: -21: world #82 -> world #103
Sramkova dropped over 20 spots in the rankings, as she was defending third round points from Doha last season. There is approximately just 100 ranking points separating the World No. 80 from the World No. 100. Sramkova lost in the qualifying rounds in Doha, but she upset Hailey Baptiste to qualify for the Dubai main draw on Saturday.
