Rainbow snakes can be found in several states including Alabama, the Carolinas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Virginia. In general, these snakes with shimmering scales tend to inhabit North America’s southeastern coastal plain. They mostly thrive in rivers, wetlands, forests, brackish waters, freshwater, lakes, and marshes, and may even be found in mountainous regions.
