Light gun classic Time Crisis is coming to PS5 and PS4 in May with gyro controls, and this is our first look at how it will play.
Okay, so technically this isn’t official footage, but YouTube channel Andshrew used a jailbroken console to run the arcade classic’s PS1 ROM in Sony’s emulator.
It seems the gyro functionality has been part of the emulator for a while, and works well.
In Time Crisis’ case, the default controls map shoot to Circle and reload to R1. Then you can recentre the gyro using Triangle if you need to.
The YouTube video claims the tracking holds well, and it’s a fun way to play. Obviously it’s never going to be as good as a GunCon and a beefy CRT television, but it’s a helluva lot more convenient.
The really exciting thing is this paves the way for more light gun games in the future, and with Bandai Namco being one of the few publishers supporting PS Plus Premium, we’re hoping for Point Blank and maybe even Crisis Zone as well.
It’d be really neat if Capcom joined the fun, and re-released Resident Evil Survivor.
