Finally, it seems as though there is some sense in the Kilmarnock dressing room after their defeat to Celtic on Sunday.

It was a dramatic ending at Rugby Park, with Julian Araujo netting a 97th-minute winner to the delight of the joyous Celtic fans behind the goal.

After the game, Neil McCann moaned at seven minutes of added time being awarded, as he questioned where the officials got that from.

Thankfully, one of the players in his dressing room, Brad Lyons, didn’t use it as an excuse, accepted that Celtic deserved to beat Kilmarnock, and explained why there were seven minutes awarded.

Why have Celtic been able to score so many late goals this season?

It’s baffling that there is talk around these seven minutes because the game was still level when the stoppage-time board went up.

Killie, who are battling relegation this season, had been taking the game to Celtic all game long, and still had a chance to win it.

But thankfully, Lyons saw the sensible side and told Kilmarnock’s official website that moaning about those seven minutes is ‘clutching at straws.’

That’s embarrassing for McCann because he couldn’t calm himself down after the game and see sense, yet his own player could.

Not only that, Lyons rightfully mentioned that he went down with a head injury, which just increased the chances of a fair chunk of time being added on.

“Look, it’s clutching at straws really,” said Lyons. “I think I went down with a head injury. Dom went down with a head injury.

“There were a few subs and stuff, so we aren’t blaming anyone. We are blaming ourselves for conceding those two late goals.”
