With Finn Bennett also currently starring in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms on HBO, Eye for an Eye has become a worldwide streaming sensation at the perfect time.

The 2025 horror movie stars Finn Bennett, who is best known for his roles in True Detective: Night Country and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms on HBO. In the Game of Thrones spinoff, Bennett plays Prince Aerion “Brightflame” Targaryen, Egg’s older brother who battles Ser Duncan the Tall in a Trial of Seven in episode 5.

Now, Eye for an Eye (2025) is No. 1 on HBO Max’s Top 10 movies in the world for today, February 16, per FlixPatrol. It ranks above Valentine’s Day in second, M3GAN 2.0, Land of the Lost, 28 Years Later, 28 Days Later, Friday the 13th, 28 Weeks Later, Woman of the Hour, and Eddington in 10th.

Today, Eye for an Eye is No. 1 in a total of 21 countries located in Latin America and the Caribbean, specifically in South America, Central America, and North America (Mexico). Though it isn’t available on HBO Max in the United States, Eye for an Eye is streaming on STARZ.

Directed by Colin Tilley in his feature debut, with a script written by Elisa Victoria and Michael Tully, Eye for an Eye follows a young woman mourning the loss of her parents who relocates from New York to Florida to live with her grandmother and begins spending time with a group of local teens, but after witnessing a brutal act of violence, she finds herself trapped in a dangerous situation.

Eye for an Eye (2025) shares a title with the 1996 Sally Field film of the same name.

The horror movie stars Finn Bennett alongside Whitney Peak (HBO Max’s Gossip Girl) in the lead role, S. Epatha Merkerson (Law & Order), Golda Rosheuvel (Bridgerton), Laken Giles, and Michika McClinton.

Eye for an Eye has received rave reviews, resulting in a strong 92% Rotten Tomatoes score, with critics calling it a visually polished and atmospheric horror movie with strong worldbuilding, surreal elements, and an effective monster, though it’s occasionally over-reliant on familiar clichés. Many critics praise its style and themes, though some feel it never fully realizes its premise.

Eye for an Eye has a 73% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes with 50+ ratings.

Though Eye for an Eye received an incredibly quiet theatrical release from Vertical in June 2025, making only about $200,000 at the box office, it’s certainly making up for that now as a No. 1 worldwide streaming sensation on HBO Max.
