Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks has confirmed that five characters are in danger as the Channel 4 soap prepares to air its special McQueen-centred episode. But with lives hanging in the balance, could John Paul’s farewell be an even sadder one?

It was confirmed last month that the soap would air a special episode ahead of the beloved character’s departure, with instalment focusing on several ‘what if’ scenarios to see how his life could have panned out differently.

While this episode will air on Wednesday, tonight’s (17 February) proved to be dramatic for several reasons, with multiple characters in the firing line after corrupt police officer Smithy took matters into his own hands.

The cop has attempted to eliminate the trail regarding the illegal steroid operation that has been happening in Cheshire, and he confronted both John Paul and Prince as he threatened violence against them.

After Prince attempted to flee, Smithy knocked him down with a punch, but Dodger Savage arrived on the scene to arrest the corrupt copper. John Paul and Prince both looked relieved, but the drama wasn’t finished there.

Nancy Osborne grilled John Paul over his decision to manufacture steroids out of the school; though he stressed that he was intimidated, Nancy couldn’t forgive him. She terminated his contract immediately, and said that he would “never teach again”.

Fearing that his career was over, John Paul naturally reacted with emotion, with Theresa and Prince entering the room alongside Nancy. She prioritised the safety of the students, and said she wouldn’t be reversing her decision.

Unbeknownst to them, somebody was watching the room from the outside, with Dodger calling Theresa to confirm that they were all in danger. He was following instructions from the incarcerated Sully, who wasn’t best pleased with Smithy’s arrest.

Elsewhere, Vicky Grant has been going through her own turmoil, with the character ordering a batch of weight loss jabs after she received a negative comment from a worker at a modelling agency.

In tonight’s episode, she headed to Prince for advice on losing weight, though he pointed out that she was perfectly healthy. As she headed out for a run, she called Gemma, but was seemingly abducted by an unknown assailant.

With Dodger now being forced to follow orders in order to keep his loved ones safe, will Nancy, Prince, John Paul and Theresa all make it out unscathed? And will Vicky be able to escape from her kidnapper?

Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
