The clean-up of a lake after a “deliberate oil dump” is continuing, a council has said.

North Northamptonshire Council said the contamination was discovered at Oakley Vale Lake, Corby, on Friday and that it did not believe it had had an adverse effect on the lake’s fish.

It is the third time an incident like this has happened, as oil was also spilt in the same location in November 2025 and March 2024.

The local authority said it did not know who was responsible and that it continued to monitor the swans at the lake.
