BBC Newsbeat has been hearing from some of the star’s biggest fans as the “Hannahversary” countdown begins.
“I grew up with Miley Cyrus and Hannah Montana,” says Darcy Davis.
The 20-year-old student, and self-confessed superfan, says Cyrus was “a really big part of my childhood”.
“I remember I’d refuse to go to sleep until I watched Hannah Montana, I love her music now and I loved her music growing up,” she adds.
She is now hoping for a world tour off the back of the anniversary special.
“I would sell a lung for that. That would be incredible,” she says.
And while some fans have said they wanted Cyrus to reprise her role in a new episode, Davis feels the Disney+ special is the “perfect way” to celebrate 20 years.
“If it was an episode, I’d watch it. if it was a tour, I’d pay for the tickets,” she says.
“And this Disney+ special, I will be watching it as well.”
While the special won’t be a traditional episode, fans have been told to expect “heartfelt nostalgia and a fresh perspective” from Cyrus.
Some of the most recognisable sets, including the Stewart family living room and Hannah Montana closet, will also be reconstructed.
Also braced for the throwback is fellow student Jack Bostock, who hails Hannah Montana as an “iconic” character.
“It’s one of those things that you could watch now,” the 24-year-old tells Newsbeat.
“You could watch it in five years, 10 years, 15 years, and it still has the same effect.
“Hannah Montana was, and is, still everywhere.”
