Hollyoaks spoilers follow for the latest episode on Channel 4 streaming, which hasn’t aired on E4 yet.

Hollyoaks’ special McQueen episode (tying into the departure of John Paul actor James Sutton) is currently available on streaming, bringing back some classic characters for some ‘what-if’ scenes. Fans who have already seen the episode may have noticed that one McQueen is missing from the ‘what-if’ moments though — despite her featuring in the episode during the present day segments.

That person is Theresa McQueen, played by Jorgie Porter. She’s an important part of the episode, as her boyfriend Dodger Savage tries to save her and the family from the corrupt police officers.

However, she’s missing from the scenes that feature returning characters Tina, Michaela, Sally, Carmel and Sylver, and it turns out that was down to an unfortunately timed illness.

Speaking to The Mirror, Porter explained: “I was meant to be in it. I was sat in my dressing room, I was wearing a bandana. I had a really cool outfit on, but I had a chest infection, so I had to go home.

“I was meant to join in and see everyone, which would have been phenomenal. I was just too ill, too poorly, but I actually cannot wait to see [the episode],” she added.

Still, at least she got to feature in part of it.

Porter also spoke about how she’ll miss her departing co-star and heaped praise upon him as a performer.

“I’ve always loved James Sutton’s acting ever since he was in Emmerdale,” she said.

“I remember him being just a brilliant, natural actor, and I’ve actually never told him that. My secret is out. I’ve always thought he’s brilliant so I will miss him.”

Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
