BBC drama Silent Witness might have unveiled Harriet Maven’s hidden illness, leaving fans devastated.
The 29th series of the enduring drama is currently broadcasting on BBC One, with Emilia Fox and David Caves returning as Dr Nikki Alexander and Jack Hodgson, alongside Maggie Steed and Fran Mills as Harriet and Kit Brooks.
Last week’s postponed episode, The Enemy Within, was aired on Tuesday (February 17), and saw the forensics team investigate a fatal stabbing in Birmingham.
Initially, the incident seemed to have been racially driven, but as the probe progressed, the team gradually discovered evidence indicating a probable suspect.
As the investigation continued, racial tensions swiftly escalated throughout the city. Simultaneously, Jack discovered that his new gym friends weren’t what he believed them to be, whilst Kit started to question her relationship with DC Jonno Magath (portrayed by Gerard Kearns), reports the Express.

The second part of the narrative was shown on Wednesday (February 18), with the team identifying weaknesses in the evidence against the main suspect. This left DI Kayla Baran (Selin Hizli) incensed that she couldn’t charge anybody, moments before she was viciously assaulted.
Meanwhile, Jack met with his new “friends” at the pub, where he was questioned about whether he could be relied upon to embrace and maintain their patriotic principles. The storyline took a concerning turn as Jack and Nikki readied themselves to relocate to their new property at the end of the episode.
After encountering one of their new neighbours, Jack received an alert on his mobile. He’d been sent an AI-generated video of himself discussing the man who had killed DI Baran’s husband, Destan (Jonas Khan).
“He was attacked from behind by a Muslim asylum seeker who came over in one of the boats, and he defended himself,” the counterfeit Jack stated in the clip. “Since when was self-defence a crime? He’s a patriot.”

Understandably, Jack looked worried after viewing the footage, just moments before the credits started to roll.
Fans rapidly expressed their worry for Jack on social media, with others also detecting “something off” with Harriet. The experienced forensic pathologist has recently been seen losing her way to work, igniting fears that she might be facing a dementia diagnosis in forthcoming scenes.
“I feel a bit like Harriet may have dementia, I’m hoping she doesn’t but her behaviour feels a bit like she could,” one person posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Another added: “I’m hoping Harriet was just pretending to get information because it makes me kinda nervous someone in such an important role being so confused?” whilst a third said: “I’m worried about Harriet getting lost. Please don’t say this is a dementia storyline.”
