Former Catalans Dragons man Bayley Sironen has finally found a new club after being released at the end of the 2025 season.
Sironen spent two seasons in Super League with the Dragons and made 45 appearances for the French club. However, he was released at the end of the season without the offer of a new deal.
There had been talk of potentially joining his older brother Curtis Sironen at St Helens, but nothing came of that, with the 29-year-old heading back down under to continue his career. And, he has now found a club, with the forward joining Wynnum Manly Seagulls for the upcoming season.
The Queensland Cup outfit went within 80 minutes of reaching the Grand Final last season and they’ll be hoping the signing of Sironen can help them go one step further in 2026. He made his debut for the club last week, too, as the club took on Tweed Seagulls in a trial match.
However, Sironen won’t be in action for the Seagulls this week. Instead, he will be representing Brisbane Broncos’ second string in a friendly match against Souths Logan Magpies. The Broncos, Wynnum’s affiliate NRL club, are in World Club Challenge action this week, with Michael Maguire travelling with his best squad to East Yorkshire.
Those left behind will be in action on Saturday, though, with Jesse Arthars the most high profile player in the squad. Sironen will also be involved in the game, though, with the Australian being named on the bench for the Broncos.
Whether the opportunity will lead to anything further is hard to say at this point, but given his age, Sironen will feel as though he has plenty still left in the tank. The forward counts Wests Tigers, South Sydney Rabbitohs and New Zealand Warriors as former clubs.
Interestingly, former Featherstone Rovers man Ryley Jacks has also joined Wynnum, having spent the last few years with Brisbane Tigers.
