Jason Segel (“Shrinking”) and Samara Weaving (Ready or Not) keep their relationship as fresh as an open wound in the trailer for Over Your Dead Body.

The action comedy thriller will premiere at SXSW in Texas next month before opening in theaters on April 24 via Independent Film Company.

A remake of the 2021 Norwegian film The Trip, Segel and Weaving play a dysfunctional couple who head to a remote cabin to supposedly reconnect, but each has secret plans to kill the other.

The Lonley Island’s Jorma Taccone (Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, MacGruber) directs from a script by fellow “Saturday Night Live” alumni Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney.

Timothy Olyphant (“Alien: Earth”), Paul Guilfoyle (“CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”), Keith Jardine (Love Lies Bleeding), and Juliette Lewis (“Yellowjackets”) also star.

“Jorma Taccone stands as one of the most creative and reliably brilliant voices in comedy,” said Head of Independent Film Group Scott Shooman. “The film is a dark, twisted, and riotous action comedy, with a killer cast – a perfect recipe to delight audiences on the big screen.”

From 87North, XYZ Films, and Resolute Films, the film is produced by Kelly McCormick, David Leitch, Aram Tertzakian, Nick Spicer, Guy Danella, and Lee Kim produce.

Executive produces include Kjetil Omberg, Jørgen Storm Rosenberg, Tommy Wirkola, Jorma Taccone, Maxime Cottray, Nate Bolotin, Timo Argillander, and Andrea Scarso.

Over Your Dead Body is rated R for “strong bloody violence, gore, sexual assault, pervasive language, and sexual content.”
