EastEnders spoilers follow for Thursday’s episode (19 February), which is available to watch now on streaming service BBC iPlayer and hasn’t yet aired on TV.

EastEnders has officially introduced Zoe Slater’s son to the show, in a mysterious final scene that marks a huge change to this story. With Jasmine Fisher’s fate remaining up in the air, one character answers a call that they shouldn’t, and discovers a shocking bombshell…

This week, Jasmine was charged with Anthony’s murder, so Zoe was released from prison, but she was furious that her daughter was now behind bars and vowed to help prove that Jasmine killed him in self-defence.

Zoe was keen to find Jasmine’s phone, which contains footage that proves what really happened on Christmas Day, but the device had gone missing – and viewers discovered that Max had taken it.

As the community responded to Jasmine being charged in today’s episode, Max continued to watch the video on the phone and wondered what to do with this evidence.

He approached Oscar and admitted he might have been too harsh on Jasmine, conceding that she may not have been lying about everything. Oscar thanked his dad for his honesty and decided to move on from his jailed girlfriend.

Oscar continued to spiral and impulsively bought all the newspapers from the Minute Mart with Jasmine’s arrest on the cover.

Meanwhile, Zoe kept looking for Jasmine’s missing phone, but in the café she got into an argument with Kim, who was convinced that the phone was just another lie from the teenager.

She headed to The Albert next, getting into a row with Cindy, and when Max turned up, he leaped to Zoe’s defence and bought her a drink.

As Zoe opened up about her distress over Jasmine’s arrest, Max’s guilt intensified. Cindy eavesdropped on their conversation and realised that it was Max who took the phone so confronted her about it.

Eventually, Max admitted the truth. Despite Cindy urging him to destroy the phone, he refused to after seeing how hurt Oscar and Zoe were over Jasmine.

Max was called away when Jack told him about Oscar trying to set fire to the newspapers in the Square, so Cindy took matters into her own hands and used Elaine’s keys to sneak into Peacock Palace.

She took Jasmine’s phone from Max’s room, and when Max later returned to the hotel, he was frustrated to find that the device was gone.

When he violently confronted Cindy, she explained that she had disposed of the phone, still scarred from Jasmine pushing her down the stairs last year.

While Cindy hadn’t actually destroyed the device yet, once alone she got ready to smash it with her high heel. But before she could do this, Jasmine’s phone rang.

Cindy answered but didn’t speak, and the voice at the other end said: “Jasmine, it’s me. Your brother, Josh.”

Jasmine’s brother, and Zoe’s missing son, is credited as Josh Goodwin, and is played by Joshua Vaughan – who was reported to be playing the mysterious new character earlier this month.

What will Cindy do with this new information, and when will Zoe meet her son Josh?

EastEnders airs on Mondays – Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
