President Donald Trump’s administration has hit back after Bruce Springsteen announced the US leg of his Land of Hope and Dreams tour.
Earlier this week, Springsteen confirmed that he would be returning to the road at the end of March, which will keep him traipsing across the United States until the end of May.
Significantly, Springsteen, who recently released ‘Streets of Minneapolis’ in honour of Renée Good and Alex Pretti, who were killed by ICE officials in January, will kick off the tour at the Target Center in Minneapolis on March 31st.
Upon announcing the run of dates, Springsteen also delivered a rallying cry to fans amid the ongoing political climate in the US, stating, “We are living through dark, disturbing and dangerous times, but do not despair, the cavalry is coming”.
He passionately added of the Trump regime, “We will be rocking your town in celebration and in defence of America, American democracy, American freedom, our American Constitution and our sacred American dream, all of which are under attack by our wannabe king and his rogue government in Washington, DC.”
Now, White House communications director Steven Cheung has responded to Springsteen’s latest comments by branding him a “loser”.
Cheung said in a statement to Politico, “When this loser Springsteen comes back home to his own City of Ruins in his head, he’ll realize his Glory Days are behind him and his fans have left him Out in the Street, putting him in a Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out because he has a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has rotted his brain.”
The latest comment by Cheung is not the first time that Springsteen has come to blows with the Trump administration.
Last summer, each night of the run saw Springsteen deliver an impassioned speech before playing ‘Land of Hope and Dreams‘ about how America is “currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration”.
This led to Trump retaliating by launching into a rant on Truth Social. He called Springsteen “highly overrated” before adding, “Never liked him, never liked his music, or his Radical Left Politics and, importantly, he’s not a talented guy”
Springsteen is almost certainly set to again rail against Trump on a nightly basis when he begins his tour in Minneapolis next month, see the full list of dates below.
