In the film, a journalist’s young daughter disappears into the desert without a trace. Eight years later, the broken family is shocked when she is returned to them, as what should be a joyful reunion turns into a living nightmare.

The production reunites Cronin with Evil Dead Rise cinematographer Dave Garbett, production designer Nick Bassett, editor Bryan Shaw, and composer Stephen McKeon.
“This is a very different kind of Mummy movie,” Cronin previously said. “It’s an insane mashup to suggest, but [the film is] almost one part Poltergeist and one part Seven, but put through my lens and the way that I like to entertain people.”
From Blumhouse-Atomic Monster and New Line Cinema, the film is produced by James Wan, Jason Blum, and John Keville. Cronin executive produces with Michael Clear, Judson Scott, and Macdara Kelleher.
