Cillian Murphy, who famously plays Tommy Shelby in the hit drama, was filmed at Calder Abbey near Calderbridge in December 2024 for Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man.

At the time, the ruins of Calder Abbey were transformed into a film set and a base was set up for the film crew at Stephney Farm near Calderbridge.

Murphy was also reported to have been seen at the nearby Sella Park Hotel.

A new trailer for the highly anticipated movie opens with a new character named Kaulo, portrayed by Rebecca Ferguson, whispering – seemingly to Tommy – that “you live in a house haunted by ghosts, of people who died because of you.” She then tells him: “You abandoned your kingdom. And you abandoned your son.”

While this dialogue takes place, a wide shot appears, which shows the picturesque ruins of Calder Abbey.

Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man is set in 1940, against the backdrop of the Second World War, and sees Tommy return from self-imposed exile to deal with his illegitimate son, Duke (Barry Keoghan), who has taken over as head of the Peaky Blinders.

Ada Shelby (Sophie Rundle) warns Tommy in the new clip that Duke – first seen in the sixth series of the TV show – is running the gang “like it’s 1919 all over again.”

Discussing the film ahead of its release in March this year, Cillian Murphy told Netflix’s Tudum that his character Tommy is at a point where he is “as broken as he has been” when audiences meet him.

He continued: “He’s just medicating and living in this purgatory that he’s created for himself in this big old house. He’s in this liminal space, not really living, he’s not really dead. He’s ignoring the world, he’s ignoring his family.”

Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man is available in cinemas from March 6. It will be available to stream on Netflix from March 20.
