Only Fools and Horses’ Tessa Peake-Jones has admitted it was “torture” looking back at old footage of herself as she made the new documentary about the show.
The actress starred as Derek ‘Del Boy’ Trotter’s love interest Raquel Turner in the beloved BBC sitcom, a character she played from 1988 until the series ended in 2003. The sitcom celebrates its 45th anniversary this year and U&GOLD has announced a brand-new two-part documentary series, Only Fools and Horses: The Lost Archive, to mark the milestone.
During an appearance on The One Show on Thursday (February 19), Tessa shared a sneak peek at the programme, which will include never-seen-before footage, interviews with cast and crew and long lost material.
The clip showed her chatting with Del Boy star David Jason, who also features in the documentary, as they looked back at an old clip.

Host Alex Jones asked: “How was it reliving those moments with Sir David?”
Tessa, 68, replied: “Well, do you know, it’s really weird. Because it’s not like you’re looking at something from a couple of years ago. This is decades and decades ago. So, I mean, we were in, you know, our 30s, 40s, 50s then. And so it was very odd.
“I hate looking at myself anyway. I don’t watch anything I’m in. So to have to sit there was like torture to look at yourself 30 years ago. It felt really weird.”
She added that co-star David, who is 86, “was quite touched by it all”.

“He found it very nostalgic,” she said. “And I think part of it was, you know, he was looking at himself in his prime when he was top of his game. You know? And I think that’s quite, for him, 45 years, that’s a lot longer than I was in it.
“It must have felt very odd and he’s very moving about it.”
“I think the public will really enjoy the programme, partly because it is unseen footage,” Tessa went on. “So no one, including us, has ever seen this stuff. But also he is very interesting, what he talks about.”

“Oh, people will love it, no doubt,” presenter Alex agreed.
The classic sitcom about the adventures of Del Boy and Rodney Trotter (Nicholas Lyndhurst) and their get rich quick schemes aired from 1981 to 2003, and was hugely popular with viewers.
The documentary is set to air this year.
