Coronation Street viewers have been floored after discovering Todd Grimshaw actor Gareth Pierce’s actual age.
Gareth assumed the role of Todd in 2020 and has become a beloved character on the cobbles ever since. In recent powerful storylines on the ITV soap, Todd has featured in a distressing domestic abuse plot involving partner Theo Silverton.
Theo, portrayed by James Cartwright, has been controlling, mistreating and isolating Todd on the cobbles, leaving audiences deeply distressed.
Beyond the ITV soap, Todd star Gareth is happily married to spouse Amy Lee Pierce, whom he wed in 2014, and the pair, together with their daughter, reside in Manchester.
On Thursday 19 February, Gareth marked his birthday as he celebrated turning 45. Posting on Instagram, the actor wrote: “Thanks for the birthday wishes! Great day so far with my girls”, reports the Daily Star.

Flocking to social media, soap enthusiasts were swift to express their astonishment at Gareth being 45, highlighting his fresh-faced appearance and that they’d assumed he was in his 30s.
On social media, one viewer posted: “HAPPY 45TH BIRTHDAY WISHES TO GARETH HAVE A FANTASTIC DAY” to which another account responded: “45? 45? I’m flabbergasted! I thought he was in his thirties!”.
Someone else commented: “Happy birthday surely his not 45 he only looks about 28 to 30 young baby face xx enjoy your birthday xxx” whilst another admirer contributed: “Happy Birthday Gareth, so very young looking for your age.”
Meanwhile, another user posted: “He looks so much younger. Many happy returns” whilst a fellow admirer commented: “Happy birthday todd have a great day you don’t look 45 look so younger.”

Welsh performer Gareth has portrayed Todd since 2020, succeeding Bruno Langley who occupied the part from 2001 onwards.
Beyond his Corrie commitments, Gareth has appeared across countless television productions throughout his career.
His body of work encompasses Caerdydd from 2006 to 2010, Ruth Jones’ Stella from 2013 to 2014 in which he portrayed Lenny Mack, Ordinary Lies in 2016, Mr Selfridge in 2016 and The Archers from 2019 to 2024.
Gareth additionally provided narration for all 11 instalments of Doctor Who: The Doctors Revisited.
