Chelsea were involved in Estevao Willian’s final game for Palmeiras in the Club World Cup before his move to Stamford Bridge, although the Brazilian side are not currently enduring the struggles many predicted.
Estevao has been a revelation since joining Chelsea, and has broken a number of records in his first few months in European football.
The winger was the key man for Palmeiras, even topping Neymar’s best goal tally in a Brazilian league season.
Be honest, which full-back can you imagine Estevao possibly struggling against? ❌

The transition for Palmeiras was always going to be difficult when losing their star player, however the start they have made to the new season has been very impressive by all accounts.

After three games of the new season, they currently sit top of the table with seven points, and have already picked up a big win away from home against Corinthians.
Palmeiras finished last season second behind Flamengo, who Chelsea are well aware of after their defeat to them in America when Nicolas Jackson was sent off.
There were signs of a strong squad at Palmeiras during the Club World Cup, when they reached the quarter-finals before being knocked out by Chelsea.
Gustavo Gomez and Vitor Roque have picked up the goalscoring slack since Estevao’s departure. They both have two goals in the opening three games of the campaign.

Given how successful the signing of Estevao has been so far, it is understandable that Chelsea are looking to Brazil again to try and strengthen their squad.
The Blues have been linked with signing Roque, who is currently being analysed by Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Chelsea showed interest in Roque before he made a move to Barcelona, a transfer which ultimately didn’t work out.
A new striker may not be at the top of their priority list right now though given recent reports that Jackson is open to a Chelsea return after his loan at Bayern Munich.
