A brutal murder looms on Coronation Street, and now fans are convinced they know who it is.

A flashforward episode this week confirmed either Maggie Driscoll, Megan Walsh, Jodie Ramsey, Carl Webster or Theo Silverton will die in April. It’s not confirmed how they meet a gruesome end and who the killer will be.

Initial theories saw fans sure child groomer Megan would be the death, and that fellow rumoured victim Maggie could kill her. Maggie was also a favourite to die, but now a new theory ignores these suggestions.

Instead a possible clue within the flashforward scenes has left fans wondering if it’s Carl who is killed. More than one viewer wondered if a scene gave away Carl would die, and that he would be the one out of the five who gets killed off.

According to the theory, it’s all about Carl’s appearance in the flashforward. The fact that Carl has a massive bruise on the left side of his face and is holding his bag on his left side has rung alarm bells.

Of course this is likely just the positioning needed for the camera when filming. But one theory is that it’s deliberate, to make the point of his left side, because he’s left… as in left the show.

The fan theorised: “From what I’ve worked out, Carl has the longest list of potential killers based on the amount of bridges he’s burned since his arrival on the scene. We also know that he’s set to have a severe black eye and bruising along the left side of his face, while carrying a bag that suggests he is trying to leave.”

Another fan agreed: “I saw a theory somewhere that it’s Carl because his LEFT eye is black and he has the bag on his LEFT shoulder … so he’s LEFT the show. At this point, that’s as good a theory as anything else.

“I do hope it’s Megan done in by Maggie who frames either Daniel or Eva. That would get rid of both Megan and Maggie, which would be win-win for me.” A third fan said: “Surely it has to be Carl dead – and Theo kills him cos Carl heard Theo’s confession?”

A fourth suggestion read: “I hope it’s Carl who is killed. He’s an irritating little man so it’ll be great to see the back of him. I mean, what kind of person steals the wife off their brother who has cancer and then continues to be vile and abuse him for months afterwards instead of feeling bad for what they did like any normal human being would?

“I don’t want it to be Theo or Megan who are killed because they need to be punished properly for what they’ve done. It’s too soon to be Jodie, and Maggie has more to give as a character, I think. Even though I think she’s quite a horrid woman.”
