More Deadites are on the way, as a new Evil Dead movie just started filming.

2026 is shaping up to be a big year for the horror franchise, with director Sébastien Vaniček’s Evil Dead Burn slated to release on July 24. This installment accompanies another entry directed by Francis Galluppi, which has remained shrouded in mystery.

Now, though, Warner Bros. confirms on X that Galluppi’s film is called Evil Dead Wrath, and it’s now in production. The announcement includes a short video unveiling the film’s title in the classic franchise font over a red background. Check it out below:

“Evil Dead Wrath has begun its bloody production,” the post reads, along with a blood drop emoji. The post doesn’t provide a look at the actual film or cast, but the promise of plenty of blood means it will be continuing a franchise staple.

Galluppi is best known for his feature film debut, 2023’s Last Stop in Yuma County, a film that holds an impressive 97% Rotten Tomatoes score. Galluppi’s new Evil Dead movie, then, has an opportunity to more firmly establish him as a filmmaker to keep an eye on.

Though no story details have been released, Evil Dead Wrath’s cast includes Zach Gilford, Charlotte Hope, Jessica McNamee, Josh Helman, Ella Newton, Elizabeth Cullen, and Ella Oliphant. Sam Raimi, who created the franchise and directed its first three installments, serves as a producer on the film, and Ash Williams actor Bruce Campbell is also involved in the project as an executive producer.

Evil Dead Wrath entering production now means it will likely hit theaters in the latter half of 2027, but no official release date has been announced just yet. Audience anticipation for the film will likely depend on the reception to this summer’s Evil Dead Burn.

Relatively little is known about Burn, but Vaniček has teased that the film will be an intense one for movie-goers. He hyped the film as a “visceral” experience in an interview with Variety last May:

“I want people to feel physically drained when they leave the theater, like they’ve been through an emotional and intense journey. The ambition remains the same as with Infested: to create a visceral, sensory experience that punches the audience in the gut.”

Vaniček’s film stars Luciane Buchanan, Hunter Doohan, Tandi Wright, and Souheila Yacoub, among others. Burn isn’t expected to be closely connected to the franchise’s most recent installment, 2023’s Evil Dead Rise, which traded the saga’s signature cabin in the woods setting for a cramped apartment complex.

Evil Dead Rise reviews were generally positive from critics, with the Lee Cronin film earning praise for its inventive scares and gore moments. The film grossed over $147 million worldwide, making it no surprise that two new installments in the franchise are now on the way.

It could be some time before official images or footage are released from Evil Dead Wrath, but audiences don’t have long to wait before Deadites are back on the big screen this summer. It remains to be seen how the two new installments will fare, but this is evidently a horror franchise that could be key to Warner Bros. moving forward.
