Welsh-qualified centre Zack Wimbush has earned rave reviews for his performance for Exeter Chiefs over the weekend, with a fine display against Bath even seeing him compared to rugby legend Jonah Lomu.
The 22-year-old, who stands at 6ft 6in and weighs in at 115kg, is back with the Chiefs following a loan spell with Cornish Pirates and was the best player on the pitch as his side defeated the reigning champions 31-19 in the PREM Rugby Cup on Saturday.
Hong Kong-born Wimbush, who qualifies for Wales through his mother’s side of the family but is also eligible for England, proved a handful in midfield, with his powerful carries putting his side on the front foot time after time.

He capped off a memorable display with a superb solo try, fending off four tackles and sending opponents crashing to the turf as he powered over the line to score.
His performance was so good, he was awarded a 9/10 rating by our sister publication DevonLive, with the centre described as a “go-forward, momentum, metre-making machine”.
The glowing review even compared him to All Blacks great Lomu, as it continued: “He repeatedly got Chiefs on the front foot in midfield despite the power and prowess of his opponents, Will Butt and Chris Harris.
“He saved the best to last, though, with an absolutely sensational solo finish down the right wing, burst[ing] and breaking out of attempted tackles like he was Jonah Lomu incarnate.”
Towards the end of his second stint as head coach of Wales, Warren Gatland was keen to bring Wimbush into the international fold, while Cardiff, Scarlets and the Dragons have all previously been linked with moves for the talented youngster.

However, with England also likely to be interested, there could be another tug-of-war between the two nations brewing if the centre can replicate such performances week after week.
