There has been a manhunt for Daniel Boakye, who goes by the rapper name DSAVV, since he fled from officers at University Hospital Lewisham around 3pm on February 15.

Officers chased him but were unable to detain him before he left the building.

Boakye had been detained days earlier after a previous abscond before escaping custody again on that Sunday.

Yesterday (February 23), DSAVV released a song called ‘The Race’ on music streaming services.

It seems to reference his current situation on the run, as he claims the Metropolitan Police “helped me escape”.

The rapper also said: “I’m a boss so I’ll always find a way, on the run trying to buy a diamond chain.”

The song also appears to taunt police, with lyrics including “catch me if you can” and “I’m that guy, yeah the boss of UK.”

This track is a remix of a song also titled ‘The Race’ by American rapper Tay-K, who similarly recorded and released the music after escaping police in the United States.

It is understood that officers have been spotted across London tyring to find the rapper.

Boakye is described as a black man of medium height and slim build.

He was last seen wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and a dark Nike jacket.

He had previously been arrested at an address in Thamesmead last week before later escaping from custody again.

Court records show Boakye was jailed in July 2023 for a series of knifepoint robberies carried out across London, in which victims were threatened and forced to hand over phones and passcodes so money could be taken from their accounts.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “We are searching for a 21-year-old man who absconded from Lewisham Hospital at around 15:05hrs on Sunday, 15 February.

“Daniel Boakye was in police custody at the hospital receiving medical treatment when he fled.

“Officers gave chase but could not detain him before he left the building.

“We are currently reviewing this incident to fully understand the events which unfolded. The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards is aware.”
