More than 3,000 on-street car charging points are to be installed across Dorset as part of a £16.5m scheme.

The five-year project, announced by Dorset Council and Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole Council (BCP) will allow more people without off-street parking to charge vehicles near their homes.

The project is being funded by £4m from the Department for Transport Local EV Infrastructure (LEVI) Fund, along with private sector investment.

It aims to help more people make the switch before new petrol and diesel cars are phased out by 2030.
