Senne Lammens was absolutely pivotal for Manchester United in the 1-0 win over Everton, earning praise from Edwin van der Sar in the process.
It was not a classic for either side, but Manchester United got the win over Everton thanks to one real sequence of quality resulting in a Benjamin Sesko goal.
As good as this moment was, Senne Lammens was United’s best player, and his big saves and aerial dominance were the real reason behind the win.
After the game, Lammens was speaking to the press, and here he was praised by Edwin van der Sar.
Who was your Man Utd MAN OF THE MATCH vs Everton?

Edwin van der Sar praises Senne Lammens’ performance vs Everton
The Dutchman is a club legend, and he’s clearly been really impressed with Lammens’ start, saying that he sees the Belgian as similar to himself in many ways.

On Sky Sports after the match, Van der Sar actually spoke with Lammens, praising his ability to handle Everton’s frankly unsporting set-piece tactics.
“Hi, Senne, good evening, it is Van der Sar,” he began. “Congratulations on the win, extremely important of course, and I think your role from the corners, they were horrible.
“There were eight, nine, 12 people around you, so it was a big fight. But with your age, first year in the Premier League, you’re really doing incredibly well. And you have a good save, good hands, so compliments on your all-around game.
Continuing, Van der Sar pointed out to Lammens how wrong Everton’s tactics were.
“In the past [at corners], you would have only two players around you, so you had some space to come out.
“But with this, you don’t have a run-up, you have to stand there on the line with eight, nine, 12 people in front of you, so he had some great punches to clear it and good catches. Well done for your first year in the Premier League.”

He was excellent against Everton, but is he the long-term goalkeeper for United?

Eyebrows might have raised when Senne Lammens was signed from Royal Antwerp in the summer, but since his debut, United have lost two league games in 19.
He has now kept three clean sheets in six games under Carrick, and the £18.2m transfer fee already looks like a complete bargain given how vast an improvement he has been.
Lammens is in the mould of a United great goalkeeper, such as Van der Sar or David de Gea, with this performance the clearest indication yet that he is made for this level.
Coping with what Everton were doing time and time again, while remaining focused to make a key save near the end, shows he is a great goalkeeper.
United did so well to sign him, and this is the example for Christopher Vivell to continue making data-backed signings.
Special goalkeeper.
