Super League Will Pryce Blake Taaffe

Hull FC will be on the look-out for a replacement to Will Pryce, with the full-back set to miss the remainder of the Super League season with an ACL injury.

The Black and Whites join Castleford Tigers in searching for a number one, with the Tigers also losing their star full-back, Blake Taaffe, last week.

Taaffe is also sidelined for the rest of the campaign, in what is a bitter blow to both sides after just two games played.

You could also add St Helens into the mix, particularly with their current injury crisis in positions 1-7, with Jack Welsby, Nene MacDonald and Jonny Lomax all sidelined.

Of course, all three clubs could look in-house, and use a player currently in the squad. Castleford did that against Toulouse, with Fletcher Rooney getting the nod, whilst FC have a number of options to choose from.

However, if they were to look on the market, there are a number of potential signings either clubs could make.

Potential transfer options after Super League clubs lose star full-backs

Guillermo Aispuro-Bichet:

Another man who had a break-out season in 2025, Catalans’ Aispuro-Bichet slotted in for the side following injuries to Sam Tomkins and the departure of Arthur Mourgue to KR.

Making 20 appearances, he ended the year as the club’s top scorer, and scored six tries from the number one spot.

With Charlie Staines as the club’s number one, and Phoenix Laulu-Togaga’e seemingly higher up in the pecking order, a switch for the young Frenchman seems realistic.

Jack Walker:

The man that is linked with any club that has full-back issues, Walker is currently at Oldham in the Championship, but despite being handed the number one jersey, he has only featured once in the second tier so far.

That came this past weekend, when the club were defeated by Widnes Vikings. A former Hull FC player, he has had his injury struggles in the past, and has never managed to settle at a club since leaving the Rhinos.

Currently sitting on 98 Super League appearances, the 26-year-old has plenty left to give in his career, and a chance at the top flight once again could be coming his way.

Declan Murphy:

The former Salford man moved to Hull KR this off-season, after initially joining the Red Devils on a trial deal. With his impressive speed, he impressed a number of Super League fans last season, and if the Robins are happy with him departing for minutes in a the top flight, he is surely an option for any club willing to look outside the current squad.

Murphy could be inclined to stay at the club, given that Mourgue’s injury leaves him second choice, rather than third, behind Jack Broadbent, and could be called upon if any more back-line injuries occur.

Tanguy Zenon:

The ex-Catalans back joined Halifax Panthers for the 2026 season, but their uncertainty over the remainder of the season could mean he is looking for an exit.

Rumours have linked him to Huddersfield Giants recently, but you’d expect him to be on the radar of clubs across the league. He has seven top flight matches to his name, with the last coming for the Dragons in victory over Leeds at the end of 2025.

Jon Bennison:

The ex-St Helens man joined newly-promoted York Knights for the new year, but is yet to have a look in at his new club. With Scott Galeano, Ben Jones-Bishop and the reported signing of David Nofoaluma, the 23-year-old, who is known for being a winger but came through the academy at full-back, could be another player that clubs are looking at.
