Hollyoaks has confirmed a major twist in the storyline involving Sienna Blake and Cleo McQueen, which has seen the latter suffer from postpartum psychosis. In the traumatic arc, one character is holding a secret.

Cleo has been undergoing treatment for the condition since the birth of Joseph in October, but she was readmitted to the psychiatric ward after it was assumed that she had shaken her baby and caused an injury.

Today’s episode of the Channel 4 soap began with Sienna informing Liberty that she wouldn’t be able to attend Ste and Rex’s engagement party. She was also anxious about the meeting with social services, which will determine where Joseph lives.

Sienna soon spoke with Sophie, who was absent from school. Sienna noted that her daughter had been noticeably quieter in recent weeks, and Sophie shared that she had done something “really bad”.

After the confession took place off-screen, Sienna called Warren to the flat and shared that Sophie was the one who had shaken Joseph that night, adding that it was done in order for the baby to stop crying.

Though Sienna admitted that Sophie didn’t use those “exact” words, she was torn about what to do. On the one hand, she felt an obligation towards Cleo, but was also hopeful that Joseph could still live with them.

If she were to tell social services about Sophie’s admission, then Joseph would likely be taken away from the household. For this reason, Warren urged Sienna to keep quiet, but she was pained at the thought of her actions ultimately affecting Cleo.

Sienna soon visited Cleo in the ward, where the latter shared details of a dream. Sienna stressed that they would make plenty of trips as a happy family, but she was evidently still wearing the guilt following Sophie’s confession.

Sienna returned home and told Sophie that she would be “fine” after doing the “right thing” in coming clean, though she did stress that they couldn’t tell anybody about what happened and would have to keep it a “secret”…
