Coronation Street’s Tim star unrecognisable as he’s spotted with full head of hair
Joe Duttine is a firm favourite on Coronation Street playing Tim Metcalfe but the actor looks rather different with a full head of hair.
Joe joined the ITV soap back in 2013 as the long-lost father of Faye Windass (Ellie Leach). And it’s fair to say it didn’t take him long to become a firm favourite.
The Street Cars driver has played a part in several memorable storylines too – from his hilarious friendship with best mate Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) to being attacked and left for dead.
His romance and later marriage to Sally (Sally Dynevor) has also been a highlight on the soap. The pair started dating in 2013 and ended up getting married in 2015.

And for actor Joe, before he stepped onto the cobbles, he had a highly successful acting career in some of TV’s biggest shows including Lovejoy and A Touch of Frost. The actor’s first big role came in 1994 when he starred as Steve Turner in detective comedy series Pie in the Sky, alongside Harry Potter’s Richard Griffiths.
He then played a number of big roles in series including Life on Mars and New Tricks, before appearing as Joe in the mini series Time of Your Life in 2007 and Rutter in 2013 TV series The Village.
What’s more, three years before his debut as Tim, the actor made a brief cameo in the ITV soap. For a number of months, the star was regularly spotted on the cobbles as D.S Carr, before stepping onto the street as a permanent Weatherfield resident.

But it’s a throwback photo of Joe that has got plenty of fans talking recently. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one user shared a photo of Joe from 2001 at the Venice Film Festival, rocking a full head of hair.
In the comments section, fans quickly swooned over Joe, with one person writing: “Witwoo Tim! Looking handsome.” Another chimed in: “Didn’t recognise him for a second then.” A third smitten fan declared: “Gorgeous!”
He’s been involved in several big soap moments
Meanwhile, it wasn’t just fame Joe found on the soap, he found love too. The actor is married to Sally Carman who plays Abi Webster on the soap. The pair started dating when they met on the set of the show in 2018, and in 2020 they got engaged.
Fast forward to July 2022, after delaying their wedding multiple times due to Covid, the happy couple made things official and tied the knot. Sally and Joe got married in a lavish ceremony at St Philip’s Church in Salford, with Sally embracing her role as a stepmother to Joe’s three children.
