Tiger Woods and his ex-wife Elin Nordegren were both present as their teenage son Charlie collected a ring and medal for helping his high school golf team achieve a state championship victory.

Charlie, 17, made a significant contribution to the Benjamin School boys golf team last November as they collected its first Class 1A state championship title since 2023.

He played a key role in the final round, shooting a dream four-under 68 – tied for the best individual performance – as the “The Bucs” won the team event by five strokes.

It represented their fifth state championship overall and first since their triumph in 2023, of which Charlie also one-upped his dad, who never won a state high school championship.

Tiger, 50, and his ex-wife Elin, 46, were both present at the ring ceremony on Tuesday and joined their son on stage to pose for a picture.

What’s next for Charlie Woods? Charlie Woods

Charlie Woods

It won’t be too long before Charlie Woods is off to college.

Earlier in the month, the teenager verbally committed to play for Florida Stata state in 2027.

By selecting the Seminoles, Charlie elected not to follow in the footsteps of his famous father, who played two seasons at Stamford before turning pro in August 1996.

Charlie made the announcement on Instagram and dad Tiger replied: “Congratulations Charlie. I’m so proud of you on entering this next chapter of your life.”

Charlie is currently ranked No. 21 on the Rolex AJGA Rankings.

His junior accomplishments include a win at last year’s AJGA Team TaylorMade Invitational.

He also tied for ninth at the Boys Junior PGA Championship last July.

Meanwhile, Charlie has taken another significant step in shaping his own golf path by signing with Players Group Management – a different agency from the one that has long represented his father.

Tiger has been represented by Excel Sports Management since 2011.

Tiger Woods given Ryder Cup deadline

Tiger Woods is also expected to be the next United States Ryder Cup captain.

He previously turned down the role, citing commitments to the PGA Tour as a key reason why he couldn’t give the job his full focus.

The PGA of America handed Keegan Bradley the captaincy but the red, white and blue were defeated 15-13 on home soil by Europe last September.

Woods has been offered the role again but told reporters last week in his news conference ahead of the Genesis Invitational that he hasn’t made up his mind yet.

The Associated Press are reporting that Woods has now been given a soft deadline to make up his mind before the 2026 Masters.

The report stated, surprisingly, that Woods is the only candidate for the role.
