The Fakenham Food Market is due to launch on March 14 and take place every second Saturday until December.

Visitors can enjoy a freshly made coffee and homemade treat while discovering high-quality local produce from the stalls.

The market is being organised by Shop Fakenham as part of an effort to showcase the town as a vibrant retail and leisure destination.

Claire Howard, co-founder of Shop Fakenham and part of the organising team for the market, said: “We are delighted to be bringing a market back to Fakenham on a Saturday morning.

“Fakenham marketplace is a space that has welcomed people to sell their wares for nearly 800 years.

“Saturday mornings are a time when people want to be in their town centres to shop, socialise and feel part of their community. We think that the market will give them that opportunity”.

The market will be officially opened by Jerome Mayhew MP and run from 9.30am until 1.30pm.

Some of the stallholders include Willie Weston’s Seafood, Tasty Gyoza, Mumtaz spices, Coffeesmiths, and Essence Foods – the latter offering locally made conserves, mustards and preserves.

There will also be Fire and Fork, serving hog roast with locally sourced produce, and Two Course Kitchen by Katering 4 U, providing artisan sweet and savoury dishes.

Mrs Howard added: “There are a lot of considerations to running an event like this. Recent changes to health and safety legislation mean that we must shut some of the roads in the town centre, as they are on Thursdays.

“We know that this will also make the market a more relaxed and sociable environment.

“We hope the market will become a positive, regular fixture that supports the wider town and helps showcase Fakenham at its best.”
