Leicester City have been boosted by the return to fitness of transfer window signing Jamaal Lascelles and top scorer Jordan James ahead of this weekend’s clash with Norwich City.

The pair are today back in training, which will be a huge boost to Gary Rowett if he could have both, or even either available for Saturday’s 12.30pm kick-off.

City ended Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough with just four fit defenders after Victor Kristiansen picked up a knock against Stoke City.

Lascelles missed the last two games after making a couple of starts since leaving Newcastle United. The fact he is closing in on availability will be big for Rowett.

But not as big as James being back. The loan midfielder, who has nine Championship goals to his name so far this term, has not played since January 20 due to a hamstring injury.

Rowett told BBC Sport Leicester : “Jamaal trained today, Jordan James trained today, it’s assessing those players tomorrow and making sensible decisions. If we can get them back in the squad, and I might need to put the medical teams’ arms around their back, that would be great.”

If either James or Lascelles isn’t ready for the weekend they could make the trip to Ipswich Town on March 7.

Meanwhile Rowett also confirmed Abdul Fatawu is ready to start this weekend, having been on the bench at the Riverside Stadium and not involved at all against Stoke City.
