KP Snacks is proposing to close its manufacturing site for Tyrrells in Staffordshire, due to plans to discontinue its vegetable crisps.
The British snacks giant said it had entered into a consultation process over Tyrrells-brand vegetable crisps following a “sustained decline in demand and the loss of key export volumes”.
KP Snacks, which acquired the Herefordshire-based crisps company in 2018, is now proposing to close the Uttoxeter site where its non-potato products are manufactured.
A spokesperson for the company said Tyrrells potato crisps were not affected and continued to perform strongly.
