Death in Paradise detective Mervin Wilson (played by Don Gilet) revealed he was temporarily departing Saint Marie in Friday’s episode. Following Mervin and the team cracking another case, the detective decided to take his colleague Naomi Thomas’ (Shantol Jackson) advice and travel to Antigua to visit his brother Solomon (Daniel Ward).
The relationship between Mervin and his brother got off to a rocky start after Solomon raided the shack and stole the detective’s belongings. Following this, Solomon chose to return to Antigua, leaving Mervin unsure whether he would ever see him again.
However, towards the close of Friday’s episode, Mervin informed Naomi that he would not be at work the next day, as he was heading off to Antigua. “DS Thomas, I am just letting you know I won’t be coming in tomorrow,” Mervin said on the phone, reports the Express.

“I am actually taking your advice as it goes, I am going to see Sol. Yeah, well, I mean, I don’t even know if he wants to see me, but hey, what is the worst that could happen?”
Moments later, Naomi rushed to find her colleagues, voicing her concerns about the detective. “Sir,” Naomi said with urgency as the Commissioner (Don Warrington) replied, “DS Thomas, what is it?”

“What the hell is going on?” the detective demanded as he struggled to free himself. As he glanced upwards, it became apparent that Mervin recognised his captor as he raged, “You!”
