A Devon singer and his band are hoping to wow the country in an appearance on Britain’s Got Talent.

Bournemouth-based SOS are set to appear on Saturday’s episode of the ITV show in front of judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and KSI, who joins the show as a permanent judge this year.

The alt-rock band shared a post to its social media pages confirming the exciting news: “We are buzzing to finally announce that your boys will be ON THE TELLY.

“Tune in to Britain’s Got Talent tonight at 7pm on @itv and @itvxofficial to see if we can rock the judges world.”

Lead singer Josh Vaughan, who also goes by JV, hails from Kingsbridge and studied at the University of Plymouth, it is understood.

JV and fellow bandmates Sparxx Jenkins, Ash Jenkins and Josh Rose, will be on the ever-popular ITV series from 7pm on Saturday, February 28.

SOS describe themselves as “not your average boyband” and released their first album in December 2024.

Meanwhile, former Britain’s Got Talent star Richard Jones today rejected claims that the show has had its day, reports the Daily Star.

Previous guest judge Louis Walsh blasted Simon Cowell and the ITV show, telling the Sun: “Cowell was incredible in his prime, I just don’t think he’s got that same instinct now. He’s surrounded by people who won’t tell him the truth anymore. He’s surrounded by fakes. BGT, who cares?! It’s not what it was.”

Richard, who won the BGT in 2016, told Champions Speakers: “BGT isn’t dead. No way! It is still one of the best shows on TV, and it’s way too early to write it off and consign it to the TV dustbin.

“It helps give talented people a spotlight and the boost they need to showcase their passion, and I think it will continue for another 10 years and beyond.”
