Lower sixth student Rafferty Coope, 16, will be combining his two passions of magic and music into his act, which will be on ITV at 7pm on Saturday, February 28.

In a post on Facebook, Peter Symonds wished Rafferty the best of luck.

The post said: “Join us in wishing HUGE luck to our very own lower sixth student Rafferty Coope, as he appears on Britain’s Got Talent tonight at 7pm🤞!

“Rafferty’s act combines two of his greatest passions, magic & music – we can’t wait to tune in📺!

“Good luck Rafferty, from everybody at #PeterSymondsCollege we’re rooting for you🎉✨!”

Rafferty said: “I’ve loved magic all my life! I was gifted magic sets when I was younger, and have been doing tricks ever since. I can play seven instruments, and I love writing and composing music also. When I was 9, I became a chorister at Winchester Cathedral because I really enjoy singing too.

“Music really is magical! I’ve seen magicians try to combine the two, but I really think my act will attempt something which hasn’t been done before.”

Rafferty is part of the Young Magicians Club at the Magic Circle, and practices whenever he can.

He continued: “I always have a pack of cards on me. You never know when your next performance might be! Who knows if I will be either a Magician or a Musician when I’m older, but one thing I do know is that I love performing! As long my job has an audience and a stage, I will be happy!”

Britain’s Got Talent will be on ITV 1 at 7pm. Rafferty’s audition will be available to watch on the BGT YouTube channel after the show has ended.

The show has been running for almost 20 years, with its first episode airing in 2007.
