It doesn’t take much time or effort to be a good person. Whether it’s returning a dollar bill that someone dropped or helping out a friend in need, a little kindness can go a long way. Fortunately, many people will jump at the opportunity to help an animal, too, which is why stories like this can have happy endings.

On February 26, Florida resident Nadia witnessed the moment when a selfless man helped reunite a cheeky squirrel with her missing baby. It’s unclear how the animals became separated or where the baby squirrel was found, but the most important thing is that Mom and baby are back together where they belong.

What a sweet reunion! Nadia and the man must have looked high and low to find the worried mama, but in the end, their animal rescue endeavor was successful. The baby squirrel was safe and sound with their mom, again!

As commenter @lauren.lovebug pointed out, there’s a chance this grateful squirrel isn’t the baby’s mom. She wrote, “Squirrels are incredible parents. They will also adopt orphans if they notice the babies are on their own.” Either way, this baby will be much safer and happier with a squirrel mom than as an orphan.

The men involved in this adorable baby animal rescue are almost as sweet as the animals themselves. Viewer @cicadainbeta agreed, writing, “We need more men who say ‘aww.'” Animals can be so cute—why resist it?

This small act of kindness may not be life-altering for Nadia or the men who helped this family reunite, but they saved the baby squirrel from a difficult life. There are many wildlife rescues that can raise orphaned baby squirrels with no issues, but babies are always better off with Mom!

Rescuing Baby Squirrels

Finding a baby animal by itself can be shocking and worrisome, especially if there’s no obvious nesting area nearby. The best course of action depends on the species, age, and condition of the lost baby, but the Wildlife Center of Virginia created a helpful flowchart to help people determine what to do with a lost baby squirrel.

In Nadia’s case, the mother squirrel (or, a mother squirrel, anyway) was nearby to receive the baby. Truthfully, the rescue couldn’t have gone any better, even if it had been run by professionals! Everyone involved should give themselves a pat on the back for helping the adorable family reunite.
