After FX confirmed Alien: Earth season 2 last year, the hit science fiction show’s executive producer, Dana Gonzales, gave fans an exciting update regarding the upcoming installment’s progress.
When Alien: Earth season 1 aired its finale on September 23, 2026, FX put fans through an excruciating two-month wait for any news regarding the first TV series of the Alien franchise. The network finally announced its renewal in November 2025. However, any new information regarding the second season of the popular series was kept under wraps, until now.
In a post on Instagram, Gonzales revealed a photo of a sign with one of Alien: Earth’s iconic creatures and his name. The sign also indicated that production was about to start at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire.
The image included a caption from the executive producer stating how excited he was to get started on Alien: Earth season 2. He added that he was also very happy to film the next chapter in England, where the very first movie was filmed in 1979. Gonzales wrote, “Super excited to start the journey of @alienearthfx season 2. World building in the Alien universe birthplace.”

While the comments on the post are private, insiders claim that Alien: Earth’s composer, Jeff Russo, confirmed his involvement in the upcoming chapter. According to Film Stories, he reportedly stated, “Yes yes!!! I will see you soon!”
Gonzales’ post seemingly implies that filming will either begin relatively soon or the cast and crew have already kicked off production. Although this new development bodes well for the series, potentially releasing as soon as 2027, post-production for Alien: Earth could take quite some time. While the first season did include a lot of practical effects, there were also a lot of intricate elements that could only be pulled off in post, such as sound design, music, and visual effects.
Among the many unknown things regarding Alien: Earth season 2 is the cast. The only confirmed member is Sydney Chandler, who portrayed Wendy, as the actor reposted Gonzales’ post in her Instagram story. The show’s first installment featured an incredibly talented cast, and judging by the pseudo-cliffhanger finale, it can be assumed that most of the actors will return. It’s safe to bet that the characters who passed away won’t be returning. However, the remainder of the surviving ones, such as Boy Kavalier (Samuel Blenkin), Kirsh (Timothy Olyphant), CJ (Alex Lawther), and Morrow (Babou Ceesay), who played major roles in the first chapter, will almost certainly return.
There is currently no official release date for Alien: Earth season 2 at the time of this article’s publication.
