West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen has been hiding a secret according to a new claim that would go a long way to explaining his recent performance levels.

Hammers supporters probably never thought they would see the day where Jarrod Bowen was among their worst performers.

Skipper Bowen has carried West Ham on his back for the last two years until others have finally stepped up to the plate over the last couple of months.

But that weight of pressure and expectation appears to have taken its toll on Bowen of late, leading to a string of underwhelming displays relative to his exceedingly high standards.

Bowen has been hiding information and it explains his poor performances for West Ham

Now a new claim about Bowen’s worrying West Ham secret has explained everything.

Nuno Espirito Santo gave Bowen a week off to recharge his batteries recently, which he used to take a holiday to New York.

However, Bowen’s performances against Bournemouth and Liverpool have been under par just when West Ham desperately need him at his brilliant best in order to secure Premier League survival.

A group of fans have told Hammers News that Bowen might not be suited to being West Ham captain, feeling the added pressure is taking something away from his game.

There have even been some outlandish suggestions from a minority that Bowen should be dropped.

That is exactly what the man himself does not want to happen, though.

Because Bowen has reportedly been keeping injuries hidden from Nuno and West Ham’s medical team to ensure he is not forced to sit out any games.

Fan Sided’s Green Street Hammers claims to have a team source with knowledge of Bowen’s situation and the medical team.

The report claims Bowen has knocks ‘all over his body’ and suggests he has made a choice to keep the severity of them a secret to avoid being rested.

“Some of them admit that one knock is more severe than others,” the team source said.

“Some of them know if they give something too much attention it may affect playing time.

“And he (Bowen) never asks (to be) off the pitch. He wouldn’t compromise himself so that decision would be made for him either.”

The source also cites the mental toll West Ham’s struggles are taking on Bowen but say being captain ‘has nothing to do with (his below par performances)’.

Many Hammers fans have assumed Bowen was carrying a knock.

Although some felt he had maybe grown tired of West Ham’s regression amid rumours of a summer exit.

One thing that must be made clear is that the England star’s work rate is never in question.

And his clutch of poor performances should not be too harshly judged in the context of hundreds of brilliant displays in claret and blue.

It should also be noted Bowen still managed an assist despite his struggles at Anfield.

He also got himself in a position to net a last gasp winner against Bournemouth but fired wide.

The hope is that Bowen can rediscover the sharpness and instinctiveness which has set him apart from everyone else for so long.

They are the only things missing right now and resting our Prague hero for what Nuno sees as a must-win at Fulham is simply not the answer.
