Terence Crawford is going to finish Canelo Alvarez, says a former world heavyweight champion.

On September 13, the pound-for-pound superstars will battle it out at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

The American is a natural finisher, with Crawford ruthlessly stopping Hank Lundy, Errol Spence and Jeff Horn. However, many believe he’s too small to trouble the Mexican.

But one retired fighter believes ‘Bud’ has more than enough to upset the apple cart.

Shannon Briggs believes Terence Crawford can knock Canelo Alvarez out.

The American is adamant there’s something truly special about the switch-hitter.

In an interview with First Round TV, ‘The Cannon’ said: “I’ve been saying Crawford by stoppage.”

Utterly stunned, the host, asked: “You truly believe that could happen?”

Briggs confirmed: “Sometimes you get an Oleksandr Usyk, Terence Crawford is like Usyk. He can fight both ways; he gets stronger as the fight goes on, he wants to prove something.

“I’m not biased because of this, I met him when he was 12 years old. He came to my gym and I could see something in his eyes.

“I saw him in Turkey the other day, and I said, ‘I still see that in your eyes, there’s still something in there that says I want to prove something’. That’s the best thing in the world.

“I could be wrong. He could get stopped, but I think he’s going to stop him because Canelo is good, but it’s time for something else now.”

Terence Crawford was down after three rounds against a power-puncher before bouncing back

Crawford is undeniably the smaller man against Canelo.

However, he’s used to being at a size disadvantage.

On one occasion, the talented practitioner of the sweet science went toe-to-toe with a boxer who’d fought at middleweight.

After being down on the cards after three rounds, Crawford managed to knock the icon out.
