A Welsh model and actress best known for her work in the hugely popular US soap opera Dallas has died aged 62. Annabel Schofield died on February 28 in Los Angeles, California, where she had lived for many years.
Annabel was diagnosed with cancer a number of years ago. The Llanelli-born actress first underwent surgery for the illness in 2023 and restarted chemotherapy in November 2025 after learning it had spread to her brain. In recent months, she had spoken publicly about her diagnosis and said she underwent surgery in January.
Before starring in Dallas, Annabel rose to prominence as a model in the 1980s, becoming a prominent figure in London’s edgy, street-inspired fashion world. Always keep on top of the latest Welsh news with our newsletter.
She left Wales at 16 to pursue her career and was represented by London’s Take Two Agency, appearing on hundreds of fashion magazine covers. She also featured in major designer and brand campaigns for leading companies, including Yves Saint Laurent, Rimmel, Revlon, and Boots No. 7.
Annabel achieved worldwide recognition following her memorable appearance in a Bugle Boy Jeans television advert in which she famously delivered the line, “Excuse me, are those Bugle Boy jeans you’re wearing?”, whilst driving through the desert in a black Ferrari sports car.
Former owner of London’s Take Two agency, Melissa Richardson, has paid tribute to the late television star, describing how much she was “loved”.

Melissa paid tribute, saying: “She was one of David Bailey’s favorites and appeared in countless shoots for Italian Vogue. She was the forerunner of Take Two – without her, we could never have made it as we did. “We loved her because she was funny and real and beautiful and down to earth.”
“She never changed from the sweet little 17-year-old Welsh girl I first met,” she added: She was directly loyal, caring, and above all, a raging beauty. She knew her craft. She was the best.”
At the height of her modelling career, Annabel relocated to Los Angeles where she was cast in the long-running American television series Dallas, which at the time was in its 11th season. She played the feisty Laurel Ellis, a friend of Clayton Farlow who is blackmailed by the show’s central character JR Ewing into having sex with him to protect her friend.
