The Minister for Trade and Industry has met with members of the U.K. Treasury as part of their ongoing engagement.

Nigel Feetham says the meeting was a useful opportunity to touch base and to maintain Gibraltar’s close working relationship with the United Kingdom.

He says the parallel framework with the European Union, afforded by the Treaty, helps us diversify our economy, open new markets and create new opportunities.

Mr Feetham adds the recent United Kingdom’s announcement on increases of betting duty, reminds us that we cannot rely on any single trading partner even if that is the U.K.   And, he says, there could be other challenges ahead, that we don’t know about.

Nigel Feetham will be taking the new Gambling Bill to Parliament at its next sitting.
