Chinese car company Jaecoo has recalled one of the UK’s most popular SUVs with thousands of models taken off the roads. The Jaecoo 7 SUV achieved impressive sales success in 2025 with over 28,000 models leaving forecourts in its debut year on the market.

The car has generally been praised by motorists, who have dubbed the model a ‘Temu Range Rover’ for its affordable price tag and its similarities to the Range Rover Evoque. According to AutoExpress, around 7,500 Jaecoo 7 models built between April and December 2025 are affected by a recall due to electronic issues.

This may cause the Jaecoo 7’s engine to stall while driving, which in turn could increase the risk of accidents and injuries.

According to the EU’s Safety Gate, “the product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles”.

Jaecoo customers will be notified of the recall through relevant channels, with the manufacturer set to contact users via their customer relationship management systems or authorised dealerships. The Chinese manufacturer has confirmed that motorists affected by the recall notice will be offered free vehicle inspections and repairs.”

Despite the recall, Jaecoo has made clear that this is not a “stop-drive” notice, meaning road users can continue to use their cars. The manufacturer confirmed that customers are free to continue driving their vehicles for the time being until they book in repairs.

The brand has also revealed that its global production process has been changed in order to prevent the problem from forming on future models.
