BBC Breakfast viewers issued the same complaint as the show’s Tech Now segment played out. Luxmy Gopal and Ben Thompson fronted the show on Sunday, presenting the day’s top news stories.

However, fans were less than impressed when the Tech Now segment appeared to be a repeat, which had already been broadcast.

Taking to X to share their frustrations, one viewer said, “#BBCbreakfast repeating last year’s breakfast story on their latest technology show lol..”

“Wasn’t this on yesterday? #BBCBreakfast,” another asked while a third replied, “Good man, making sure you haven’t missed it.”

“Tech Now is bad enough the first time you see it..Repeat episodes are ten times worse,” someone else went on.

Another fumed, “My licence fee pays this?”

However, not everyone shared the same opinion as one viewer commented, “Ooh, don’t mind this bit.”

The Tech Now segment began at a Motoring Centre in Ireland, where people monitored the roads to keep drivers safe. The presenter demonstrated that employees were also using AI to perform their jobs.

Another segment featured synchronised robots in Japan, and another showed animal photographer Tim Flach discussing the challenges of photographing cats.

Fans were also thrilled to see Luxmy presenting the programme, with one writing, “Great to see Luxmy this morning on breakfast.”

Saturday’s BBC Breakfast was also jam-packed, and fans were thrilled after Naga Munchetty shared some heartwarming news about Punch, the baby monkey in Japan.

Charlie Stayt began, “Now, you may be familiar with the story of Punch. That’s the baby monkey that was given a cuddly toy. There he is, after he was rejected by his family at the zoo in Japan. A bit worried about him.”

Sharing the positive news, Naga added, “We have an update there, a positive update. Keepers have gradually been reintroducing Punch to the macaque troop, and it seems he’s parted ways with his stuffed orangutan as one of the adult females has taken him under her wing.

“She grooms him, she holds him. Punch has even been spotted playing with some of the younger members of the troop as well.”

BBC Breakfast airs daily at 6am on BBC One.
