A children’s trail will encourage them to explore galleries while searching for hidden ‘wild animals’.

Meanwhile, young people can take part in the museum’s own wildlife photography competition.

The exhibition shines a light on powerful images that capture hidden animal behaviour and “spectacular species”, the council said.

The competition was launched in 1965 and this year’s photos will feature on an international tour that will allow them to be seen by more than a million people.

During a week at the Natural History Museum, entries were judged anonymously by an international panel of industry experts.
