Pressure is mounting on England head coach Steve Borthwick after his side suffered three consecutive defeats against Ireland, Scotland and Italy ahead of their final Six Nations clash with France.

England’s campaign has unravelled in recent weeks, with the loss to Scotland costing them the Calcutta Cup and ending any hopes of claiming the Triple Crown. Defeat to Ireland at Twickenham then effectively ended their chances of competing for the Six Nations title.

With one game remaining, England are now simply fighting to salvage some pride and finish as high as possible in the table when they travel to France.

Borthwick will soon turn his attention to the summer and autumn internationals as he continues to build towards the next Six Nations and ultimately the Rugby World Cup in 2027.

However, he will be without one player who has been a reliable servant at both club and international levels.

Ben Curry confirms season-ending injury

Ben Curry has confirmed that his season is over due to injury on Instagram, which will be devastating news for both England and Sale Sharks.

The flanker posted a short message updating fans on his situation.

He said: “Gutted to say that my season is over.

“Been a tough few months already; however, I’m feeling really positive about next steps and can’t wait to get cracking with the rehab.”

Doubt over summer Tests

There has been no return date given for the flanker, meaning it is possible he could miss England’s summer Test matches when they face South Africa, Fiji and Argentina.

In a cruel twist of fate, Ben’s identical twin brother Tom also suffered injury issues this week. The England back-rower was forced to pull out of England’s Six Nations match against Italy on Saturday after suffering a knee injury during the warm-up.
