Rugby fans looking to stay in Cardiff for next year’s Six Nations could end up spending more than £600 to book a one-night stay in the Welsh capital. Wales’ fixtures for the 2027 tournament were announced on Monday and within minutes fans reported hotel prices sky-rocketing for the weekends when matches will be hosted at the Principality Stadium.

Wales have three away matches next season with trips to Paris, Edinburgh, and Rome coming in rounds one, two, and five respectively. They then host Ireland and England in Cardiff at home in the middle of the championship.

While many of the city centre rooms have already been booked up those looking to hotels to cheer on for Wales against Ireland and England at home face being set back more than £300 stay in the capital for one night.

On the night of Wales v Ireland on Saturday, February 20, a standard double room in the Cardiff City Centre Hotel by Belvilla on Bute Terrace will cost a staggering £417 on Booking.com. That’s compared to £97 for exactly the same room on a Saturday night two weeks earlier.

A classic double room at Holland House will set you back £653 compared to £190 a few weekends before. Stay in the know by making sure you’re receiving our daily newsletter.

A double room at the Novotel will set you back £478 on the night of the Ireland game compared to £168 for a Saturday at the end of January.

Meanwhile over at the Marriot a deluxe king will cost £621 compared to £539 the previous day.

It’s also a similar picture for the England fixture on Saturday, March 6 – albeit slightly cheaper at some hotels. A stay at Holland House costs £528 while Cardiff City Centre Hotel by Belvilla are charging £438 for a standard twin room.

Reacting to the prices one person posted on X: “Next years Six Nations fixtures literally released eight minutes ago and already the hotels in Cardiff are through the roof – over £350 for one night in not the best places is a joke!”

Consternation over the price of hotels in Cardiff is not a new issue to the city. Fans are often left frustrated by the prices of hotels in the capital on Six Nations weekends with some suggesting they have been put off staying in Cardiff all together.

It’s also an issue when the biggest artists and bands perform at the Principality Stadium. Average room prices in the capital for Oasis’ Live 25 Reunion tour last summer reached a whopping £588 a night.

Some city centre hotels even charged £900 for a single night during the tour dates.
