EastEnders viewers are sure one character won’t be on the soap much longer, as a hidden detail hints at his death. During tonight’s episode (10 March), fans watched as Ravi’s mental health story escalated, and some noticed the BBC soap used a sound they’ve previously reserved for when such a storyline is about to reach its breaking point.

After Monday’s cliffhanger – in which Ravi (Aaron Thiara) drove off with Mark (Stephen Aaron-Sipple) whilst Priya (Sophie Levy) was left screaming in the street – it seemed certain that things were about to kick off between the two gangsters. They certainly did, as Ravi revealed himself to Mark as the mole in their drugs operation and goaded him into beating him up.

Mark was seconds from killing Ravi with a log when Priya and his sister Vicki (Alice Haig) interrupted them and convinced him not to murder Ravi. But fans are still certain Ravi will die soon, especially after what they heard in the background as Priya cleaned him up.

At the end of the episode, Priya was cleaning Ravi’s wounds and told him to lift his arms up. When she did, she saw the self-harm scars that littered his back as the sound of a train braking could be heard in the background.

One fan wondered if this was foreshadowing Ravi attempting to kill himself: “This may just be just a sound error but did anyone else hear what sounded like a train breaking or just starting to move when Priya saw Ravi’s scars? I wonder if that was a hint to something he may try to do to himself.”

Another added that this particular sound has been used by EastEnders before, often before a mental health storyline is about to escalate. “They seem to be using the sound of trains as an audible queue for mental health recently. Seemed to start with Nigel in the episode with Pat, then when Ravi snapped in Monday’s episode and now when Priya notices how Ravi’s mental health has led to self-harm.”

Others agreed that Ravi’s storyline seemed to be heading towards becoming one about suicide. “Ravi is becoming increasingly more unhinged,” a fan wrote. “I still have a feeling they are hinting at a possible suicide storyline.” A second said: “Honestly Mark and Ravi are as bad as each other I wouldn’t be opposed to a murder suicide with them two.”

Though fans do not know what will happen with Ravi, Mark is guaranteed to make it to 1 January 2027 at the least. Earlier this year, EastEnders aired a flashforward episode, in which Mark can be seen with the Branning family on that day. He was spotted with the family as Max (Jake Wood) was arrested and Oscar (Pierre Counihan-Moullier) tried to convince the rest of the family to help him.

There is no such guarantee for Ravi, who was not seen in the episode. Nor was Priya, but some have wondered if she made a secret appearance. During the episode, a pregnant woman was seen in bed with Max and fans have suggested that Priya could be this mystery woman, especially after she scored a job at the car dealership Max has bought.

“Could this be hinting at Priya being pregnant by Max in 2027 though or possibly being the one he sleeps with?” one fan asked. Another agreed that Priya’s new job put her “in close proximity to Max”.
