Novak Djokovic interrupted his interviewer to playfully complain about an on-screen caption about him following his Indian Wells victory. The Serbian came from one set down to beat Kamil Majchrzak 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 in the second round on Saturday.

He is in third-round action later today (Monday) when he takes on American Aleksandar Kovacevic. The match is due to start at around 6pm GMT on Court number one.

Following his win over Majchrzak, Djokovic went into the studio of the Tennis Channel to reflect on the match and look towards the next round.

When asked how he was doing, Djokovic said: “Great, great, it feels great to be on set with you, it means that I won a match here. I always keep that in mind, if I want to do well in tournaments, I get to do more interviews in the Tennis Channel sets.”

The interview then continued, but something caught Djokovic’s eye. Having a double-take at the caption on the screen, the 24-time Grand Slam champion interrupted the interviewer and said with a smile: “The second-oldest man to reach Indian Wells third round, that’s a really nice description. Thank you, Tennis Channel!”

The interviewer then says: “It’s supposed to be a compliment!”

He adds, with Djokovic laughing: “Maybe we can say second-wisest man, second-most experienced man, give the guy something.!

Later, a new caption appears, with the interviewer saying: “Much better, thank you, guys, most distinguished man to reach this stage.”

Djokovic then says: “Most distinguished man, wow, that’s a very sophisticated word there!”

The 38-year-old is a five-time champion at Indian Wells and will be looking to secure a sixth title this week. His last victory of the tournament came back in 2016, with him losing to Botic van de Zandschulp in the second round last year.
