Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Wednesday’s (March 11) episode that is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode in question will air on E4 on at 7pm.
Diane Hutchinson (Alex Fletcher) broke down in tears as Dee Dee (Chloe Atkinson), unaware of her diagnosis, told her mum that she and her siblings will ‘manage just fine’ without her.
Landlady of The Dog Diane received the devastating news last week that she has Stage 4 ovarian cancer, confiding in Tony (Nick Pickard) that she’s been given about six months to live.
Tony’s world shattered into a million pieces and, devastated at the prospect of losing his beloved Diane, he made an appointment with a Harley Street consultant to get a second opinion.
Dee Dee, Ant (Brook Debio) and Ro (Leo Cole) knew full well that something was up after spotting mum Diane, who is an alcoholic, drinking at the bar. In a bid to keep her diagnosis a secret, Diane claimed their uncle Dom had cancer.
Wracked with guilt over both the lie and her relapse, Di realised that alcohol wasn’t the answer and, after promising Ro that she’s not going anywhere, she resolved to tell the kids after she got a second opinion.

Nancy Osborne (Jessica Fox), who learned of Diane’s prognosis earlier this week, accidentally put her foot in it with the Osborne kids, which left them even more confused – certain they weren’t being told the picture.
The trio were convinced that Diane and Tony, who remarried in October, were getting another divorce and, determined to honour Diane’s wishes and keep quiet about the cancer, Nancy did little to argue with their theory.

In a bid to smooth things over while also keeping them from worrying, Diane sat Ro, Ant and Dee Dee down and claimed that she and her dad’s divorce ‘wasn’t a done deal’, stating that their upcoming trip to London – which is in aid of the second opinion – will prove instrumental in what’s next.
When quizzed further, she was forced to confirm that Dom did not have cancer, much to her children’s shock. Ro was taken aback by the lie while Dee Dee berated Diane, blaming her for the alleged split and even said that her, Ant and Ro will ‘manage just fine’ without her if she leaves the family.

While Dee Dee is unaware of her mum’s diagnosis, hearing such a thing from her kids absolutely crushed Diane, who broke down in tears after they left the room.
